While I may have shut the shop down, I'm not completely idle.
A friend contacted me about building a number of custom AR rifles.
10's and 15's.
First things first, the Aero Precision receivers are top notch.
Some of the cleanest work I've seen. Both sizes and uppers as well as lowers.
If you want a free float tube with the Mloc or keymod cuts, get the AP enhanced upper with the tube.
The barrel nut is just that, the tube mount is integral with the upper receiver. Clean and simple.
The Palmetto State Armory 'polished' fire control group is worth every penny.
While still rack grade parts, between the polishing and finish, you get a decent trigger right out of the plastic bag.
I put a set in my own 15 as I am building it.
Using an AP Nickle Boron plated bolt carrier assy in the first 10, it hasn't eliminated all of the polishing and cleanup that is normal to glass the action in a build, but it certainly does save some work.
Front heavy like a G3, thanks in part to the collapsible stock and medium profile 20" barrel, it handles surprisingly well, we shall see after the first range day.
More to follow.
