Columbia River Knife and Tool is an interesting company in my experience. They have some of the most inovative designs, designed and made from some top talented knife designers, such as Kit Carson. Somewhere however they occasionally loose something in the translation. I have noticed that their blades are either very sharp, or need a lot of sharpening, they are either very nice and tight toleranced in their folders, or they are sloppy. There does not seem to be a middle ground with them for some reason. And I am talking in the same models. I have two of their Bud Kneely folders, one is very nice and tight, the other the LAWKS is so sloppy as to be almost useless. I of course took it apart and fixed it,but not everyone has the mechanical inclination. Now I will say that the good ones I have seen run about 10 or 20 to 1 so their quality is not bad at all, and their materials in blades and handles are top rate for their price range, not like say Taylor cutlery or Frost out of China. They are head and shoulders above them in all respects. They in fact rival or surpass some companies with much higher prices.

Their service I am told is first rate, so if the off chance occurs you get a second rate one, send it back and you will be happy with the results. They are definitly a knife company worth looking closely at . Especially if you do not see something that rings your chimes elsewhere, chances are with their diversity, CRKT will make it.
