When the sun goes down and bathes the garden in that kind of shimmery golden haze that June
and July are lovely for, I sometimes sit out on the patio and strum my acoustic guitar. Close by on a small table will be a large mug of tea. Might even be
green tea into which I'll have added some sprigs of mint that Boo's grown, or lemon verbena from our little herb patch that's on the patio's
raised flowerbeds.
Singing is something I do a lot of. It's because singing enables me to talk - in a lilting sort of way, my voice I'm told is beautiful when it's singing. And that comment came from someone I love so dearly, it's because I'm almost a mute because of having an awful st-sst-staMMMmer. means I'm somewhat of a social pariah; means when a phone rings I'd rather be anywhere but having to answer it. ... So, singing is something I can do without ssst-st-stammm -ing.
One of my favourite songs to sing with an acoustic is the Beatles' Strawberry Fayre. Or Art Garfunkle's Willoway.
Give me a good book and I'll sit on the Sunporch or, in mid summer beneath shade, lie on the day bed. Or you'll find me down on the bach sitting on a breakwater smoking a cigarette, watcing the smoke drift away.
. . . right now, this is where my heart is.
