It's been quite a while since I've been here to the Cabin. I hope some of the regulars here will remember me.
It has been a very long and trying year for me and even more so for my Family. Last June while out squirrel hunting with my Son, I was apparently bitten by a Deer Tick. I didn't notice it and it infected me with Lyme disease. I didn't notice any real problems for more than a month. When I realized that I might have an issue, I was at Scout camp with my troop. I had what I thought was a pulled muscle in my shoulder and a terrible headache. I was able to get another leader to come up and cover for me and I drove the 40 or so miles home. My Wife took a look at me and decided to take me into the ER. That is pretty much the last thing I remember for about three weeks. I was in isolation for a couple of days as none of the Dr's. knew what I had but, they were afraid I could be contagiuos. I do remember a few of the highlights of my stay. For instance, I remember getting 3 Lumbar Punctures. I do remember them taking my temperature in the BAD place. Many times I recall that! Most every other memory I have from that time is what has been relayed to me.
Once I was released form the hospital, I developed Bell's Palsy (facial paralysis) and dealt with that for a month and a half. During this time, I had Dr's. appointments nearly every day. The worst part of this was that I had to meet each of these Dr's. new every day.
For the most part, I am getting along much better now and I'm back to working a full week, most weeks. I am taking 5 different meds every day. I've never had to take meds on a regular basis before so this has been a task to get used to.
I'm going to bed now as I worked last night. I just wanted to let you all know I hadn't forgotten you, and that I've have looked in here from time to time.
