Remington 870 and a Tac Star Side Saddle ammo holder???? |

Has anybody ever mounted a Tac Star side saddle on their Remington 870? I've read that the forend needed to be modified to slide past the sidesaddle. I
see tonight that is definitely the case. If you did this to a standard wood forend how did you go about it? If you bought another, what did you buy?

I have given a lot of thought to adding the sidesaddle to my 870 and didn't want to modify the existing forend and thought about finding the shorter wooden
police forend and using it. Havn't had much time to look, but they should be available because of the change over to the more tactical type of forend and
stock by police.
If you have already seen it, there was a youtube video on installing the sidesaddle and the guy talked about modifying the forend. All life is subject to the laws of Nature, or to be more precise, the laws of our CREATOR. |

saw the excess wood off,.,..or, buy a plastic"spool" fore-end,it works perfectly...

I don't recall having to modify mine, but I have a Speedfeed stock and forend. You could also use the four shell style which is shorter and doesn't
effect the balance of the gun as much. On a related note, it takes some practice to be able to reliably and quickly use a side saddle and the added weight
throws some folks off.

Yes, standard foreend is too long and will interfere with cycling action - about an 1 1/2" too long. Choate foreend and rear stock (my choice - wanted a
pistol grip for absorbing recoil) worked like a charm. I do agree with Bajatacoma, the action does sort of feel canted, especially when slung.
