2 days ago, I paid a visit to our lgs and there were over 60 different .308 & .223 carbines available. Prices were up and I wasn't sure that I wanted
to put out an extra 100.00 or more than we thought about paying, so I left and gave it a little thought. Just got back from the same shop (only one within 50
miles with any inventory) and they had two left on the racks and no ammo on the shelves, where they had bulk military grade, stacked to the rafters.
Couldn't afford what he had, so I had to pass.

What they post as sales in the newspaper.
Look good. But, it's been a busy year for me and I haven't bought anything since April.

Sales in my area have been normal. In the larger cities nearby, sales are up, but not hugely so. I expect a definite upsurge after the election if one
candidate wins. I suggest buying your large capacity magazines and ammunition now.

Unfortunately, legally we can only get 10 round mags in Kaliforkinya.

I know the LE types are buying and putting things back.
Some other's also but then I tend to deal with a limited number of people anymore. |

What surprised me even more is, I went to the range, which has 39 shooting lanes and shooters were 2 and 3 deep on the rifle side and at least 1 waiting on
each lane on the handgun side. Most shooters I've seen at this range. The politio chatter was rampant, but I'll refrain from posting it. Just glad I
got there early on and got a good bench.

i'm a range officer at our club, and i've noticed a gradual increase in the number of new shooters/members,especially women.I only work the handgun
ranges, but I've noticed a like increase in new folks passing by to get to the rifle range just up the road.

AR's and such are FLYING OFF the racks locally. I think it's a big push before things in D.C. get heated and things will get in short supply
accordingly. I wish I had been in a better position to buy Connor more, earlier. The way it is now, I'm looking at getting all the 10/22's retrofitted
to a 'Black Rifle' config asap and buy as many 25 round BC STEEL LIPS as possible in the near future with .22LR being stocked in greater quantities.
Primers and powder will also be increasing.

I went in to our local Wal-mart store, and in the sports dept, you usually have to run down a clerk to get waited on, Not the other day, they actually had two
clerks behind the counter, and I had to stand in line to get a 550 box or Rem .22 HP's. I ask the guy if they have been selling a little ammo? His
response, "You wouldn't beleive the run on ammo we've had since the election". They usually have 3 to 4 trucks come to the store a day, and
he said this last week, on just about every incoming truck 5% of the load was ammo. The guy ahead of me was making out the paperwork on an 870 Remington, and
was buying a case of shot shells. Is this going on all over the country? I don't know if people fear the incoming administration, or what's going to
happen after the fiat dollar collapses. I also noticed that our gun shops have up'ed the price of primer from 24 dollars a thousand to 30 or 32 dollars!

Think this is where Mose meant this...
Went to a gun show last Fri night. Dealers said no big sales but several who had been looking for some time finally bought. Talked to a guy who went on Sunday and he said every thing was going, especially "Assualt" type weapons. One guy left with 7 ARs. So it really changed since Fri night. I was going to buy a couple more Glack 22 mags but I think I will wait as I'm sure the price is way up there now. After the feeding frenzy, it will go back to normal. The Dems, (I think) will be too leary to try any control measures for some time and by the time they get up the nerve and backing it will be too close to the next elections to try it. That is my opinion and hope. Of course this does not include New England and California. Although the gay marriage ban in CA may send the far left scurrying around in confusion. Even I was surprised about that one. Just proves nobody likes a whinner....................I personally can't find anything in the Constitution or Bill of Rights that would indicate this should be banned nor does it seem to me it's particularly dangerous. We must remember that freedom OF Religion is also freedom FROM a particular religion. If we force Christian Morality on the Country because we are the majority it leaves us open for another Religion's Morality when we are not. Like alot of Muslim imagrants forcing the type of life style we are now dieing to stop in places like Iraq and Afganistan. Freedom is a two edged sword. So is condemnation. Most of those who embraced the guillotine as a solution during the French Revolution ended up under it's blade a few years later. JMO, but I'm right! |

Lee,
I'm of the opinion that the new administration will move quickly to re-enact the Clinton era ban on a permanent basis. Check out the transition team's website in the urban agenda section. They plainly state the intention to do this. The sooner it is enacted, the quicker they can get the media on to other things. By the mid-term elections they can then claim it's old news and not worth bringing up. How many remember that MoveOn.org was formed in response to the Clinton impeachment not as a response to the Bush era wars? As to the second topic, the California Constitution did not address the question, so the proposition was put forward to do so. The voters in California made their choice. Don't resort to violence. If one doesn't agree, then reform your approach and bring it back up for a vote. Look at the amendments concerning alcohol in the US Constitution. Freedom of religion means freedom from religion as regards to what the government may or may not do. Individuals are, and should be, free to use their faith as a basis for casting their vote. I'm not trying to force my religion on anyone, but to say I cannot use it as a factor in forming my choice is to force secularism on me. I can use faith, atheism, coin-toss, or eenie-meenie to make my choice.

Try this link www.tinyurl.com/5gznwl
The following is from that link, which the transition team took down after experiencing the response to it. I disagree with the incoming administration regarding their policy towards guns. Their intended actions will do nothing to reduce crime, and will in fact increase crime. Start quote: Crime and Law Enforcement Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets. End of Quote. What a bunch of hogwash. Tiahrt Amendment: For years cities suing the gun industry and anti-gun organizations have sought access to confidential law enforcement data on firearms traces. Both the BATFE and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) oppose the release of trace data. In fact, the FOP released the following facts regarding the "Tiahrt Amendment" - Firearms trace data is "law enforcement sensitive" and is collected by ATF specifically to assist in criminal investigations. - The prohibitions on the disclosure of firearms trace data has been part of every ATF appropriations bill since 2003. - There is nothing in the law, in regulation, or in ATF's internal procedures which would prohibit disclosure of firearms trace data to a law enforcement agency or prosecutor which certifies that the data will be used to further a criminal investigation or prosecution. -- EXAMPLE: The firearms used by Seung-Hui Cho, who massacred more than thirty people at Virginia Tech in April, were trace by local law enforcement with the help of ATF within twenty-four hours after the weapons (which had the serial numbers filed off) were recoverd from the crime scene. - Once a law enforcement agency or prosecutor has received this data, they are free to share it with whomever they wish. - The law does not prohibit the use of ATF data as testimony or evidence in third-party civil actions. Commonsense(?) measures...keeping guns away from children and criminals who shouldn't have them. My son learned as a child that guns were not toys, and how to handle weapons responsibly. That meant not touching them without proper supervision. Felons and other criminals are already barred from having guns. In Great Britain, criminals don't seem to have any problems getting guns, despite a comprehensive ban on almost all firearms. Gun Show "Loophole": This loophole doesn't really exist. Firearms dealers have to complete background checks at gunshows. This is just a ploy to make it more difficult for a person to sell their own weapon to someone else. They want to be able to track weapons in a national database. Easier to go get once a ban is enacted. Permanent Assault Weapons Ban: Since the last one lapsed, I haven't seen much in the way of "assualt weapons" being used in crimes. Isolated incidents perhaps, but not the "blood flowing in the streets" promised when the ban lapsed. The big gun battles took place and take place, only in the movies and on TV.

Seems like the people see what's taking place. Our not so LGS guy called and let me know he has another shipment in, so I asked how much higher. 40%! This
is a bad time in the economy to be raising prices on goods that should be kept in line with manufacturers suggested retails, but that's on them.
If they do pass the assault weapons ban, you can bet that it'll be a mirror of the laws here in Kaliforkinya. Limited magazine capacities (10 rounds), No assault weapon sales. Citizens here have to buy them piece at a time and assymble them. Oh, the lower receiver won't be able to accept a magazine. The rounds have to be punched in through the top and it will hold 10 rounds. Any firearm that is listed in the ban, will be turned in, or you become a criminal. With said assault weapons ban coming and people knowing it's coming, why would they waste their monies on a rifle that will eventually be taken from them? Makes no sense unless you go in another direction as to why they are buying to begin with and I won't take it there, but the thought is scary, because many citizens will be caught between a rock and a hard space when it all goes down. Heck, who knows. Maybe the blue helmets are already here and just waiting for it all to take place so they can keep the peace. Did you guys hear that over the last weekend NCIC was doing a million background checks an hour on people buying guns? I don't think it's as much fear
of the incoming president as it is people worried about the choas and anarchy that will follow an economic collapse, but that's just my opinion, could be
wrong.

It is "get in line" if you want an AK or AR. A few weeks before the elections one could buy any style of Stag Arms M4 from a distributor. Several
friends ordered M4s just after the election and their dealer had to go direct to Stag who said they were about now two weeks behind in orders..... The guns
came in 10 days later. They then went to four weeks behind to 10 weeks behind in a matter of 10 days as one of the original buyers decided to buy a second gun
and was told this......
On GunBroker a Stag M4 #1 just sold yesterday for $1500.00...this was a $900 gun last month. I am a distributor for CProducts AR magazines... I can not get them on the phone and they have not answered my emails.... The club I teach at now has so many people standing in line for the NRA Basic Pistol Course we have scheduled two extra classes for the winter and spring... Glad I bought mine last year when I did... A bit off topic, but NBC is airing *Armed in America* tonight. A bit of brain washing prior to introducing the new AWB?

Missed the program last night. How was it?
I've really got the feeling they are going to try and cram as much anti-gun legislation into the next 2 years as possible. The old "better to beg forgiveness than ask permission" followed by the "are you still going on about that? Get over it already" approaches they've used. Used to great effect, I'm sad to say. |

They can't take, what we don't or won't give them. Like a bumper sticker the wife and I are getting a few of.
