My favorite survival weapon and tool is with me 24/7, it is my mind and all the knowledge that has been stored in there. I cannot always retrieve the knowledge
when I want : ), however, it is what gets me and keeps me out of many survival situations. My next tool I would have to say a good strong and sharp fixed blade
knife, pretty tough to build a shelter with a gun.

A Model 97 12 ga. pump shotgun.
A 44 mag. Super Blackhawk, is OK, also. Lucas |

I have given this a lot of thought, and if a knife is considered weapon, then it woud definitly be a knife as I believe that is the number one survival
"tool".

My favorite survival weapon? Well, I think John Rambo said it best... my brain!
But, in staying with the theme of the above answers, I'd say than a strong, durable, fairly easy to sharpen knife (that weighs less than one pound!) is the most important item to carry with you. |

Knife: my Cold Steel SRK. Just right, not too large, not too small.
Shortgun: my Smith and Wesson Shorty 45. The first eight rounds I fired out of it went into a group that would completly hide behind a quarter (about an inch/2.5 cm). They were a handloaded 255 grain Keith at about 800 fps. Longgun: Mmmm. This may be undergoing change as I just recently aquired a Savage model 23 in .25-20. We'll see, but the round is quiet, accurate and good from tiny to deer sized game. It came with a very nice 80 grain mould. Cat |

For field survival a 22RF rifle followed closely behind by the Savage 24 in 22RF over 20ga. ( For mutant, ninja, zombie hords from California I'd take
something different)
