OK, on this one I am really going to bust the trend. I'm going with the 20ga..
While I own a .410 and two 12 gauges, I have and hold dear my three different 20's. They do just about everything I ask of them. No more explainantion is required. Is it? Shotgun Jeff , Out! ![]() "We're surrounded, that simplifies our problem." ~ LtGen. Lewis B. (Chesty) Puller |

I have 12's and 410, but I've been thinking about a pair of 20's for the kids.

I shot trap for 30+ years with a 12 ga, hunted with a 12 but due to medical problems the biggest shotgun I've shot since '95 is a .410. I could probably handle light loads in a 20 ga but since I don't have a 20............

12 is probably the best all arounder and has th ebest ammo availability if you don't reload. I only reload for the .410 right now in shotguns but I intend to get into 20ga and 12ga "one of these days" and I think the 20ga will probably end up as my favorite when the loads can be made to order for it.

12 ga.
General hunting: #7 1/2s. Defense: Federal Tactical 00 Buckshot. The new wad throws an incredibly tight pattern. Slug: Brenneke Classic Magnum 2 3/4" 1 1/8 oz. Accurate, can be used in all chokes and cuts a VERY BIG hole. Bob |

I love my 12ga. When hunting, I like to carry some 2 3/4 high brass 6's for squirrel, rabbit, grouse and Mtn. quail. I don't do much flight shooting, but it seems like the valley quail have a double hatch every year so I get out and bag a few with 7 1/2s. I also carry several *00* for larger game. Turkey finds me with a bow usually, but I do have some #2s that work pretty good.

Twenty gauge for most of pheasant season and jump-shooting ducks on the crik. #6s for pheasant and #4 or BB steel for waterfowl.
Twelve gauge for end of pheasant season and turkey. #6s for pheasant and #2 steel (I'm NOT buying special loads for turkey) for turkey. Kis

20ga is by far my favorite and the one I found most useful during my 30 years of shooting and hunting.
Due to chronic back problems I am down to using a .410 for all my scatter gun needs. Not the best but when used within its limits it will get the job done. Regulis7 |

Been shooting a 20ga for the past 40 years, never saw any reason to change. Ducks, geese, upland game along with grouse and rabbits are all easily taken with appropriate loads.
