This forum is for the discussion of homesteading, self-sufficiency and DIY topics. With the current economic situation, we are IN TEOTWAWKI. Who knows what the
future holds for us and being able to do for yourself and possibly even being self-sufficient/off the grid may make our future brighter!

The more I see technology grow into daily life, the more I tend to find myself gravitating the other direction. I would like to be self reliant and find more
"simple" technologies to learn and master. Unfortunately, I also find the easiest way to learn these is by using higher technologies such as the
internet, You Tube, and my iPod! LOL!

I find that many people are relying more and more on complex electronics in their daily lives and are forgetting how to do even simple...

This isn't a new desire for me. I've wanted to do this for a LONG time now. I even have the place picked out. I actively study bushcraft and survival
skills and I practice them often. Its not that I hate society or civilization (although I don't love it either) it's just that nature is SO much
better. I feel a real sense of euphoria everytime I step into the woods. This isn't just a dream. I want to do it. I'm going to do it.

A member of my family forum very kindly shared DIY plans of this splendid adjustable computer desk, of which the design is as practical as it is compact.
Knowing how well you guys here do things, if you should need a smart computer desk, then this could be your answer.

I've been contemplating buying a small generator for some time. A couple of weeks ago I went to an LDS preparedness open house and learned a little about
selecting a generator. Now with the flood situation, it seems to make even more sense for me to purchase one for an emergency. We were given worksheets to
figure out how the size needed for the intended uses of a generator and I'll start there. I'd like to be able to run a few appliances one at a time
and in short periods...

those skills can be divided between the individuals with the most critical skills being known by multiples. Also, skills could be considered high tech and low
